Enhance your visual storytelling skills with the 3-Day Lighting Workshop for Cinematography at L V Prasad College of Media Studies — a hands-on learning experience designed for aspiring cinematographers, filmmakers, and directors who want to master the art of cinematic lighting.

This intensive workshop focuses on understanding and applying professional lighting techniques used in film and digital production. Participants will work directly with industry-standard lighting and camera equipment, learning how to design and execute effective lighting setups for both studio and on-location shoots.

Day 1
Studio Lighting Principles: Understand the core concepts of key, fill, and back lighting, and how to shape mood and depth in your scenes.

Day 2
Location Lighting (Day & Night):
Learn practical methods for lighting outdoor and indoor environments using natural and artificial sources.

Day 3
Hands-on Practice: Work with professional cinema lights and cameras through extensive demos and guided exercises.

MR. R Narayan Kumar Senior Faculty specializing in Cinematography and Filmmaking

Mr. Narayan Kumar has always been driven by a desire to give back to the younger generation—sharing lessons earned through decades of dedication and experience in the film industry.

For the past 20 years, he has passionately focused on academics, shaping aspiring filmmakers and cinematographers. He has served as Head of the Department of Cinematography at prestigious institutions, including the Satyajit Ray Film & TV Institute, Kolkata, and L V Prasad College of Media Studies, Chennai. He has also led Digital Video Production at the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, training students in photojournalism, news and documentary camera work, and television studio production.

Under his mentorship, numerous graduation films have earned national and international recognition. His industry experience includes collaborating with eminent cinematographer P.C. Sreeram on R. Balki’s Shamitabh, Mani Ratnam’s OK Kanmani, and Shankar’s I.
