DIPLOMA IN DIGITAL FILMMAKING:
- L V Prasad College of Media Studies runs a 1year, Diploma in Digital Filmmaking programme for up-and-coming filmmakers with a strong hands-on training in filmmaking practice. The curriculum is composed of the key aspects of the digital filmmaking workflow, from screen play to film, camera, sound, edit, and post, etc.
Course Structure: Semester 1: Foundation in Filmmaking
The first semester provides a general view of the five main filmmaking subject areas:.
1. Screenplay Writing
2. Film Direction
3. Sound Design
4. Cinematography
5. Film Editing
Theory and firsthand practical training are given to students in these professions, and they thus become professionals in filmmaking.
Projects in Semester 1
To continue, three projects have to be finished by the students, that is:.
Photo Story – Familiarity with visual narrative
Non-Dialogue Exercise Developing the ability to tell a story without any dialogue.
5-Shot Exercise – Controlling cinematic composition
Further, students will participate in a two-day Crane Workshop, which provides them practical experience in leading camera motion and rigging.
Semester 2: Specialization in Digital Filmmaking
In the second semester students can focus on one of the following:.
Film Direction:
Pre-production, production, and post-production
Screenwriting principles and script workshops
Budgeting and location management
Directing actors and handling on-set direction
Film Editing:
Practical training on professional editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and DaVinci Resolve.
Continuity and storytelling principles using editing
Cinematography:
Professional camera handling: Arri Alexa, RED Dragon Epic, Sony FS7, Canon DSLR 5D.
Camera operation, movement, and lens choice
Interior and exterior lighting techniques
Projects Semester 2
Dialogue Exercise – Crafting cinematic dialogue
Music Video – Working with rhythm and visual storytelling
Final Diploma Project
To finish the Diploma in Digital Filmmaking, students are required to write and direct a 20 min max short film.
L V Prasad College of Media Studies offers total production support, which includes:.
Professional cameras for film shooting
Lighting and lighting crew
Dedicated floor for shooting
All student movies will be shown in our full featured preview theatre.
- All applicants will be required to undergo the PCAT (Prasad Creative Assessment Test) which will be followed by a personal interview on campus. The dates for the online examination and interview will be communicated in advance to all candidates. Screen Acting students will undergo only Interview and on selection he/she will pay the course fee.
- Graduates in any discipline may apply (including those awaiting their final year results). International students may apply complying with the relevant/ equivalent requirements mentioned above. Where applicable, candidates must complete all arrears before joining LVPCMS.
- Once selected, Semester Fee details will be communicated to the student in the admission letter. There is no Refund for any course registered at LVPCMS.
- Payment has to be done through a demand draft drawn in favour of ‘L V Prasad College of Media Studies’, payable at Chennai or through Bank Transfer. Cash payment will not be accepted.
- Eligibility for Digital Filmmaking Course: Pass in Plus two school examination / Equivalent.
