The first semester provides a general view of the five main filmmaking subject areas:.
1. Screenplay Writing
2. Film Direction
3. Sound Design
4. Cinematography
5. Film Editing
Theory and firsthand practical training are given to students in these professions, and they thus become professionals in filmmaking.
Projects in Semester 1
To continue, three projects have to be finished by the students, that is:.
Photo Story – Familiarity with visual narrative
Non-Dialogue Exercise Developing the ability to tell a story without any dialogue.
5-Shot Exercise – Controlling cinematic composition
Further, students will participate in a two-day Crane Workshop, which provides them practical experience in leading camera motion and rigging.
Semester 2: Specialization in Digital Filmmaking
In the second semester students can focus on one of the following:.
Film Direction:
Pre-production, production, and post-production
Screenwriting principles and script workshops
Budgeting and location management
Directing actors and handling on-set direction
Film Editing:
Practical training on professional editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid, and DaVinci Resolve.
Continuity and storytelling principles using editing
Cinematography:
Professional camera handling: Arri Alexa, RED Dragon Epic, Sony FS7, Canon DSLR 5D.
Camera operation, movement, and lens choice
Interior and exterior lighting techniques
Projects Semester 2
Dialogue Exercise – Crafting cinematic dialogue
Music Video – Working with rhythm and visual storytelling
Final Diploma Project
To finish the Diploma in Digital Filmmaking, students are required to write and direct a 20 min max short film.
